New Format
Focus/20 kickstarts with a virtual launch on Sunday 13 September (no showrooms will be open on this day). From Monday 14 to Friday 18 September, tailored visits will be offered to trade professionals only. The safety and wellbeing of visitors and showrooms are a priority, and every aspect of Focus/20 has been highly considered. The new format aims to manage the number of people in the building and observe social distancing in the showrooms. The virtual programme – all of it free to view – will share the same culture of generosity and celebration that permeates all editions of the show, strengthening the Design Centre’s mantra to connect, converse and create.

For years, the Design Centre has informed, inspired and entertained with talks and panel discussions. For Focus/20, it is taking them online, with the same exceptional line-up of international designers, experts and thought leaders. Highlights include:
Right Here, Right Now:
For the new snapshot series Right Here, Right Now, meet the creatives who have shaped the new collections. They include, amongst others, Bernie de Le Cuona, Lucy Vaughan, founder of Vaughan, Sarah McGregor, design director of Colefax and Fowler and Zoffany’s head of design, Peter Gomez who will share insider insights on this season’s fresh colour stories, materials, artisan craft and inventive techniques. Shining the spotlight on creative excellence from an unrivalled collective of world-class talent, dive deeper into the new pieces, including many that would have debuted at Milan this spring.
Conversations in Design:
Get top level insights at a carefully curated programme of Conversations in Design webinars. The stellar line-up includes, amongst others, international designers Michael S Smith, Rose Uniacke and Yabu Pushelberg who will discuss their exceptional work with a global audience. Find out what’s shaping the future of design at virtual panel discussions and business-focused sessions about how to take a professional practice to the next level in the light of ongoing challenges. Guest speakers, amongst others, include designers Charlotte Rey and Alexandria Dauley, with more to be announced.
Virtual Masterclasses, Workshops & Tours:
Online masterclasses will include the exploration of decorative and architectural lighting with Sally Storey, Sophie Paterson and Andrew Hills of Porta Romana, as well as sessions on the power of panoramic wallcoverings and the importance of nature and outside space. A new series will explore finely calibrated creative partnerships, including a webinar with US designer Ray Booth and Arteriors. The Personal Shopper will be sharing knowledge of what’s in the showrooms, and the Design Discovery Tours and Style Radar sessions will report on the veritable treasure trove at the Design Centre.
