Bespoke by Decca London-Part I

The Concept Stage

‘Bespoke by Decca’ is a new exciting project set to make its debut at the London Design Festival 2016!

“Bespoke by Decca helps designers turn their ideas into reality”

Working on a piece of bespoke furniture is a fascinating journey that we would like to share. We’ll be covering the whole creative process, from sketches, through development and production, to installation of the final piece.

We invited a number of our clients, individuals and interior design companies, to create a unique furniture collection. We received some really wonderful designs and we’ve chosen 8 collections to develop.

We were thrilled to receive designs from the following interior design companies:

Elicyon

Eliska Design

Helene Dabrowski Interiors

Landmass

Laura Hammett

MKV Design

Siobhan Loates Design

UniQue Home

The first stage of the process is to develop the concept idea into a workable shop drawing. To do this, we invited representatives of all 8 companies to visit our showroom to discuss their designs with us, and choose finishes from our extensive finish library. The initial drawings our CAD team provided for a chosen prototype piece were then worked on and developed further, and will be sent back to our factory and revised for approval.

Prototypes are the best way to see how the designs work, and we’ll have all of them on display in our showroom in Design Centre Chelsea Harbour during Focus/16 (18-23 September 2016) and visitors will be able to vote for their favourite collection. The 3 collections with the most votes will then be presented to a group of judges to choose the best collection.

We will put this collection into production, along with a few other choice pieces and will display all of the finished pieces for our show in Spring 2017.

Alongside this exciting competition we will also be showcasing two new bespoke furniture collections at Decorex and Maison& Objet, working with lighting designer Robbie Llewellyn of Bert Frank and with interior designer Michael Veal.
